The story
It probably started when I was a kid, watching my dog-obsessed grandmother cook giant batches of food for the dogs at the shelter where she worked.
Fast forward 30 years: I was a stay-at-home mom, dreading what felt like an inevitable return to the ad agency world where I’d spent my entire career. Enter Roscoe, a crazy wire-haired rescue with bottomless energy, a giant personality and a VERY sensitive stomach (if this is sounding familiar it's because every small batch dog food brand starts with some version of this story).
I started cooking Roscoe's meals and after being blown away by his complete transformation, what began as a chore quickly became a passion.
Not wanting to take chances on ingredients, I'd head to the Montclair farmers market every Saturday to stock up. Knowing where the ingredients were coming from and directly supporting the hard working farmers who grew them is what turned my passion into a mission.
I started Local Dog because I want every dog owner to feel as good as I do about not only what but how they feed their dogs.

Our farm partners
In an effort to collapse the supply chain we go to great lengths to source as locally as possible - putting money directly into the pockets of the hardworking farmers in our area. Here are a couple of our current partners.

Taffera Farms, NY
This family owned and operated Catskills farm focuses on regenerative agriculture. Their commitment to sustainable farming practices and ethical treatment of their animals is clear the second you set foot on the farm. It's what makes Taffera Family Farms a truly magical place.

Ironbound Farms, NJ
Ironbound is an organic farm in the NJ Highlands with an uncompromising approach to responsible and sustainable farming. And with the Ironbound Farm Market they're supporting fellow farmers by providing a retail option without the high cost of a distributor.
